Mind Blowing Campsite - Maze Overlook - Canyonlands
I would not call lit a perfect trail, anymore than I would call Cinnamon, Engineer, California Gulch, Corkscrew Gulch or any other trail in that area. But it is a nice trail as are all the others. In reality, there are just too many trails in CO and UT to designate one as perfect. Especially, since perfect is subjective. If you want to test your nerves, hit the Shafer trail in Canyonlands, Cliffhanger or Moab Rim around Moab. Or just give blackbear a pass, just down the road from Ouray. Personally, I find blackbear rather boring due to heavy traffic.
You should have your own tv show on Discover or History channel
That would totally be my ultimate dream
Thanks for the review! Question for you - does this charge from the DC input while it's providing power via it's DC output? I ask because I do lots of cross country driving and need a unit that will slow charge via 12v from the car while powering a fridge. The goal being to be able to leave the fridge in the car overnight without it losing power. I have an Ecoflow at the moment that is supposed to do that but for some reason doesn't. Thanks!
Yes, because the DC input is used for either the Car plug or the solar panels. You just are not going to get much power from your car's plug. What we did was to add a 600w inverter to the Jeep to be able to fast charge the power station while we are driving.
Thank you for the review. I’ve been debating on picking something like this for my car. They’re priced at $189 with prime shipping on Amazon so it’s pretty tempting.
The picture for this video is of an AC180 and not the AC70
Very observant. Bluetti didn’t even notice that
@@TrailTraveler I have one of each. 😃
Most excellent!!!! My question is - you spoke to channels for GMRS however what are the actual GMRS frequencies? Thanks to anyone that can answer!!!
wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/FRS/GMRS_combined_channel_chart
We were over that road 3 times in the sixties, once in a 1962 four-cylinder Scout and twice in a 1968 eight-cylinder Scout, my dad, my mom, my brother, me and two dogs along with two weeks' worth of grub, sleeping bags and tent and whatever else we needed for two weeks of roughing it in the San Juans.
Prescott is pronounced like saying biscuit. Not PreSCOTT.
I am a HAM, and I really enjoy it. I am a veteran with Anxiety and PTSD so I rarely talk to people. But it is nice to have for those days when I do feel chatty. But I have watched some on GMRS as well and after seeing this video I am going to get my license for GMRS as well. For me it is a great hobby to work with the radios, the antennas, having Echolink. I also do some light offroading and feel that the GMRS is more practical for this.
Thanks for the windshield and drone tour! This is more my kinda drive in my FJC 'cause its got to get me back home to the southeast. Enjoyed the scenery of an area I haven't explored in Colorado.
I had this on my 20. It worked great up until i overheated the power steering system on Cliffhanger. I think the combo of my aluminum steering box, the cooler being too low in my installation to get air flow over it with the fan, and the fact I had a tire wedged is what caused it to overheat and shut down the pump. I now have a PSC system. Don't get my wrong. It worked very well for over a year, and it's much better than stock. But be cautious if you're doing an obstacle that requires a lot of steering input.
I've seen a few people have that happen, so we opted to not overboost it. We wanted to be a little conservative vs having a hair more power. Hopefully it will work out for us.
The AC70 is 1,000 Watts...it is 768 Watt Hours.
I can't seem to find the dimensions anywhere. Could you measure and send me that?
Ham Extra here. Have my GMRS as well. Both have their uses for sure. Ham is just more fun!
I drove it May 30th in my 22 F350 pulling our overland trailer. The videos don't do the views justice. This is something you have to visit.
Were you just on shelf and phantom canyon today Sunday 22june?
Nope, we were doing Caribou Creek
Ok thx
Just purchased 4 GMRS radios, paid $35 for my license. Family members are covered under my license, but do I need to get each family member their own call sign?
Your license and call sign are tied together, you would all use the same call sign. You can add an optional identifier like AB1234 - Mobile, AB1234 - Base, AB1234 - Timmy, etc.
Thanks for the info I didnt know about that upgrade , also love the 4K quality videos Awesome job !! But tell Edge to clean up that shop ,garbage and old parts everywhere All over tool box , good grief kinda gives a hint on how they do their work and run the shop
I think it should be called the brown rim trail, not necessarily because the dirt is brown.
SO CREEPY! I would never do this!!!
I have been looking at adding this to my 2020 gladiator. I really appreciate that you took the time to share this in a very straightforward manner.
Glad it was helpful!
Yes, GMRS is now very popular. Try getting an uncrowded channel in a popular area like Moab. Better lean to use codes.
Never had much of a problem finding a channel in Moab, at least on a non-holiday weekend. But, once we setup privacy codes, no more having to look around.
May it be driven with a regular car?
No. You need high ground clearance, 4WD, and a transfer case for low range gears.
Great video, we passed crossed couple times on Rim rocker Memorial day weekend
We certainly picked a good weekend to be out there
I wish it were possible to buy a MADE IN USA winch at a price that's affordable. Problem is most winches are made in China and that includes most of Warn's product line. Ramsey is still USA made, but again the price is punishing. Back to Warn, you will have to research very carefully on the model you consider buying, as it could be Chinese. So if you want to buy American but have a limited amount of cash, you are stuck.
Back in the 60s my dad called it the "Highline Drive", Don't know where you got the "Shelf" from.
As far as I know, it has never been called Highline Drive, all of the maps we have seen call it Shelf Road.
If you are traveling on the road with a friend and just want to do basic communications to talk with them, how do or would you so you dont need to be so formal (like needing a call sign) ?
With a FRS (Family Radio Service) bubble pack from Walmart you do not need a license. Purchase them charge up the batteries, make sure they are on the same channel, you are good to go.
As someone who has over 40 years in the radio industry this was a great introduction and you hit the mark very well. I'm also an Extra class Amateur license holder but for most people I recommend GMRS for most of the same points you listed. There are a lot of advantages to having Amateur privileges and equipment in the back country but the vast majority of people do not want to make the effort and, as you noted, they mostly don't need it. Also, thank you for emphasizing the proper use of the radio. Not for some some silly pedantic reason but for the same reasons we train industrial people in the proper usage, it just makes the system work better. If people use their call signs, use words such as "over" and "clear" etc., life is just better. People will not need to repeat things, there will be less of people talking over each other, and you will more likely understand what the conversation is about. Keep it short, clear, to the point, and get off the air so that others can have access.
I have baofeng Uv5r & 888s, I want to know can I transmit & recieve on both set on FRS from channel 1 to 15, without getting license? Please quide.
Technically speaking, you can't. While you could set those channels in low power mode, the radio itself is not certified for use on GMRS.
Just wondering, has anybody actually flipped and rolled? 🤣🏔

It’s 5 o’clock in the morning here in Massachusetts and I am binging your videos, out here we mostly just go through the woods or a few sandpits. I think I am moving out west. Seriously.
I've done "off roading" in Wyoming for 52 years. Specifically, the Snowy Range, the Sierra Madre Range, The Wind River Range, and the Red Desert. I've done it in a 1961 GMC, 1969 International Harvester, 1970 Chevy Suburban, 1975 Chevy Cheyenne, 1979 Dodge Power Wagon, 1991 Jeep Wrangler, and 2001 Chevy Silverado (all 4WD). Whereas I do like to get down into Colorado and do some wheelin', Wyoming is where I hunt and fish. Glad you guys enjoyed Wyoming!
Nice video! I did Imogene a few years ago with my wife. Between an arthritic flare-up in my right shoulder, the anxiety of what I didn't know about the trail, and my wife giving me vibes of anxiety as well, I did not enjoy it as much as I should/could have. We came from the Ouray side. I would like to do this trail again someday, now that I know it isn't as bad as I had anticipated. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed the adventure. Up there on the summit at 13,114 feet above sea level was fantastic. I think we spent about an hour at the summit, just enjoying the experience. Also, lunch in Telluride was pleasant. If I did it again, I would take my time at those old mining sites, as they are quite cool. Last Fall, we did Last Dollar Road. Although it was a simple trail, the Fall colors were gorgeous!!! Thanks for a great video!!!
Great video. Watched your videos several times!
Clear as mud. Thanks for the intro video. Just paid for my GMRS today. I'm late to the dance. lol
I just had to resubscribe to your channel. Have you seen an issue with that?
Once in a while UA-cam will remove subscribers that haven't interacted with the channel. I think its an attempt to make sure the subcribers are actually interested in the content.
@@TrailTravelerhmmm. I watch and like regularly but don’t always comment.
Love your videos. Most informative reviews of the trails on the internet. Question for you on the Avada. I wear glasses like you, how does the goggles fit wearing glasses
I was using the Goggles v2 which fit over my glasses pretty well. I have since switched to the Avata 2 with the Goggles 3 which do not work with glasses at all so I had to go through Hons VR to have prescription lenses made which allow me to fly the Avata 2 now.
@@TrailTraveler thank you as usual with you have helped out on the needs and want to know stuff about this great pass time
Thank you! I am learning so much! My self esteem flat lined with ham radio technology and terms. It was more than i needed, too!
Thank you!

Nice driving dude, beautiful trail.
For future reference it’s considered bad trail etiquette to “go around” an obstacle. The point is to conquer the obstacle, or take the bypass if one, or turn around.
I have searched for the Roubideaux Trail on UA-cam and you really can't find much on it. So maybe add that into the description to it shows up in searches and thank you for filming it!
What gets me is I'm a armature extra yet that license is not good for gmrs You would think it would be
I did shelf road in a 1976 chevy Vega LONG time ago.
First time I did it was in an BMW X3
I just purchased a Warn VR OV10 with a steel cable. I haven't even mounted it on my 2003 Rubicon. The first thing I'm going to do is strip the steel cable and replace it with the Freedom Winch Line.
The trail is NOT intense as you mention. If you think switchbacks are difficult, thankfully you will stay off the truly hard trails and leave it to those of us who aren’t scared.
I have said it’s an easy trail with expert consequences. I have also seen seasoned wheelers have complete panic attacks there. I have never said it is a difficult trail but it most certainly is intense for some people.
@@TrailTraveler congratulations for dealing with some of these commenters, it ain’t easy as they say.
Great video! It's pronounced, " Tā Bah Wash"
Thanks!!!
Skyline drive was my playground when I was a kid. There are caves underneath it and the "hogbacks" down below where everyone road their dirt bikes.
Hello. Omg i think this video's topic goes way out of gmrs use and operation. He's talking about other things other than what gmrs is. What freq does it operate on, how much power are we allowed to use, ....the first half hour of this video is about other topic.
